I was drawn to the path of yoga in my early 20's as a way to heal my body and mind during a stressful life transition. Deeply alienated from my body, overwhelmed by a world focused on striving, and certain there was a deeper current I could tap into, I fell in love with the strength, healing and serenity yoga provided me. After 15+ years of practice, including meditation and breath-work, yoga has become more than a physical practice on the mat; it's how I live my life.
I received 200-hour certification through the Temple of Kriya Yoga in Chicago in 2006, and I'm currently pursuing 900-hour yoga therapy certification through Surya Chandra Healing Yoga School, a IAYT certified institution. Over the years I have also participated in trainings and workshops in trauma informed yoga and yoga for eating disorders and have received Reiki level II certification.
My classes focus on function over form and are influenced by the Krishnamacharya lineage; classes are open to all-levels, with emphasis on breath work and slow, gentle movement.
I believe strongly in the healing benefit of yoga, and hope to continue bridging yoga as a tool for positive mental health. I was recently accepted to the University of Illinois at Chicago's Master in Social Work program, and will begin studies in the fall.
Sangha or community is the crowing jewel of the yogic path, so please feel free to reach out to say "hi." The sublime in me honors and sees the sublime in you.
